Social Media

If you have decided to start using the internet to offer some information, such as a website or a blog. Then there is one thing that you can not really ignore, and that is Social Media. It doesn’t really matter which form of site or information you are offering, there is a good chance that Social Media, will enhance your ability to the content to the people that are most likely going to want to see it.

There are far to many different social networks to go into detail on every single one here. However i will try to share the basic idea, and some information about as many social networks as i can. While also looking to add more content in the future.

There are a few different type’s of Social Media Networks. Each will have a different purpose in your toolkit and the way that you use them should be different. If you try to use them all the same way then there is a good chance that you will find yourself not getting to the place that you want to be.

SOCIAL UPDATES

What social updates are is just a short update that shares what you are doing, a quick Snippet of information, a Quote or maybe a quick link to something you have created. These type of networks are probably best to connect directly and quickly with many different people, and to get your content out there to people. Some Examples would be

SOCIAL BOOKMARK / LINKS

People in general do like to share links to their favorite sites, as such there are a number of different sites which enable this to happen in an easy way, and not just shared to their direct friends, when someone shares a link on these sites it has the potential to be shared with more people. These sites accept submissions from pretty much anyone who registers, and then weight’s each link based on the number of votes, that they receive. Some Examples would be

FULL SOCIAL NETWORKS

While other social networking sites have kind of specific purposes, a full social network enables you to connect, with people, share with them and general has a lot more ways to do both. Through things like live chat, posts and updates, comment on others profiles, photo’s or updates, and generally the ability to create a more complex social network, which interconnects with others. While these are some of the more popular social networks above, there are many smaller niche social network sites, that are out there. Along with a range of other up and coming sites. The key thing that you need to realise when you are dealing with social networks, is that you need to weight your potential contribution of time, to what you may achieve.
